KeaneTel utilizes a multi-facted sales approach, both direct sales in the Delaware Valley, greater Philadelphia and Atlantic City markets, and indirect sales, from our team of 30 plus Sales Partners across the nation. 

KeaneTel is based in Southern NJ; we are located in Atco, NJ; the half way point between Philadelphia, PA, and Atlantic City, NJ.

A Brief History of KeaneTel

KeaneTel was formed in January of 2002, by Senior Partner Pete Keane, with a vision of being a customer oriented telecommunications sales agency.  In April of 2002, Jeff Keane, Pete's oldest son, joined the team. 

Upon Jeffs arrival, KeaneTel grew much more rapidly than expected.  In short order, the team work of both Pete and Jeff, coupled with the same unified vision of delivering multi-vendor solutions to KeaneTels end user clients, allowed KeaneTel to offer clients what was best for their business.

Historically, customers have purchased the products a direct carrier sales rep wanted them to buy.  What drove those recommendations was the sales reps monthly quota, and often, the bonuses associated with a given product.  KeaneTel began showing customers that we recommend solutions based upon their needs for multiple reasons:

  • KeaneTel gets paid monthly residual commissions by most every carrier we have, for the life of our customers billing. 
  • Direct Sales Reps get paid for aquisition of new accounts, and then they are typically only compensated for approximately three to four months on a given customers account. 
  • KeaneTel has a vested interest in keeping our customers happy and to take care of our customers for the life of the relationship, so our commssions continue.  This does not happen in the direct rep world, because the best reps are promoted, and the less than steller reps are terminated.  Either way, most customers are left with out representation in a short time!  For the reps who do stay around, many customers never hear from them again, unless they know that they can sell them something new.
  • This is the biggest problem in direct Telcom Sales Rep to Customer relationships.

As KeaneTel's customer base grew, Pete and Jeff knew that they must grow the company as well.  Pete hired Dan Keane (Petes youngest son), and Kristen Keane (Petes daughter) for assistance in customer support.  Jeff and Pete together also saw the need for additional carrier lines, to offer more value to our customers, and also, they invested in multiple online applications that support instant price quotes, ordering capabilities, and multi-carrier commissions tracking.

The Dawn of a New Era:  The Sales Partner Program

With the ever rapidly growing business model, KeaneTel, in 2004, ventured into the Master Agency business as well.   Pete and Jeff came up with an idea that turned the industry upside down.  That idea, became known as the KeaneTel Sales Partner Program

The Master Agent world had traditionally been dominated by a few specific companies that had direct sales contracts with many carriers, and they would split the commissions of the sales that a "sub-agent" would bring to them.  Very commonly, the "sub-agent", who had done all of the hard sales work, would be paid no more than 50% of the commissions that were generated from their sales.  What's worse, is many were being misled, by their Master Agents.  The Master Agencies would often tell subagents that they were recieving 80 to 90 percent of the commissions that they recieved, when in fact it was much less!

Early in 2004, when Pete and Jeff uncovered this business practice, they decided to do what had never been done in this industry before...PAY OUT 100% OF ALL COMMISSIONS, SPIFFS, & BONUSES EARNED FOR A GIVEN SALE OF CLEC SERVICES!

Needless to say, our competitors were not at all happy.  Many of which had tried, unsuccessfully, to make the carriers put a stop to this new business model.  There was only one problem: in the wake of the many telecom bankruptcies, and so many telcos trying turning over a new, more honest proverbial leaf,  KeaneTels carriers unanimously and happily supported the new business model!

The obvious question was how could KeaneTel profit from this model if they gave away 100%?  Very simple.  KeaneTel charges a flat monthly fee of $600.00 as a subscription fee, in exchange for paying out 100% on all CLEC orders placed with KeaneTel. 

Has it worked?

The answer is a resounding YES! 

KeaneTel was voted a Top 5 Master Agent in America in both 2006 and 2007 by the Telecom Association (http://www.telecomassociation.com/TAvote/index.htm).

KeaneTel now has over thirty companies nationwide participating in our Sales Partner Program, and for the first time in one year, KeaneTel has re-opened enrollment of the program! We felt that KeaneTel had grown a bit too fast in 2006, due to the popularity of the Sales Partner Program, so in January of 2007, KeaneTel stopped adding new Sales Partners, with the idea of taking one year to refine our processes and systems.  KeaneTel spents tens of thousands of dollars in IT Infrastructure, and now have re-opened enrollment for 2008!

KeaneTel is now on pace for our 6th straight record setting sales year, with anticipated carrier billings of over $22 Million!
